Pavers and Their Applications
Pavers are most often used for the outdoors. The most common places where pavers are used are as follows:

Pool areas
Recreational Parks
Outside Shopping Centers
Pedestrian Crossings
Just to name a few.

The benefits of pavers are the large variety of patterns, colors, and shapes that are available for your selection. They can enhance and add beauty to the area where you have decided to have the pavers laid.

The array patterns that can be used for your pavers’ installation, is largely dependant on the size and shape of the pavers you have selected.

The most popular laying patterns are herringbone, basket weave, diamond, parquet, and running bond. You can also create your own patterns and designs by placing the pavers in the position and format of your choice.

Laying the Herringbone Pattern

This classic and traditional laying pattern can be most difficult to lay for first timers. There may be a lot of paver cutting involved, particularly around the edges. This pattern is laid by placing two pavers at a 90 degree angle, forming the shape of the letter ‘L’. So when you look at the pattern it just looks like a sea of the letter L’s. This pattern is very similar to a zigzag affect, and can be laid in 90 degree or 45 degree patterns.

Laying the Basket Weave Pattern

This pattern is made up of two pavers adjacent or side by side at a 90 degree angle and another two pavers side by side at a 45 degree angle. This laying pattern does not require the cutting of pavers.

Laying the Running Bond Pattern

Running bond is the most popular and least difficult pattern to lay. To start on your project, lay one row of pavers side by side to each other from one end to another and continue this process row by row till the area is completed. To keep in a straight line you may use string to guide you while you pave each row.

After The Pattern Is Laid......

Once you have completed laying the pavers in the pattern of your choice, you can then apply a mixture of dry sand, and dry cement onto the paved area.

Then using a broom sweep the mixture evenly across the pavers, ensuring that all cracks and joints are filled and covered.

Once this process has been completed you can then apply water throughout the paved area also ensuring that all cracks and joints are completely filled.
